The Britomart Heritage Exhibition delves into the rich history of the now Britomart Station and its surrounding area. Through 3D printed models, diagrams, artefacts and archival photographs, the exhibition showcases various topics of interest from early Maori settlement, reclamation discoveries, the importance as a trade hub as well as the evolution of public transport in Auckland from horse-drawn trams to electric trolleybuses and current EMUs used on the network.
A number of unearthed artefacts are also on display found during reclamation works under Lower Queen Street and deep under the station. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a curious commuter, this exhibition invites you to embark on a journey through time and discover the untold stories of Auckland’s transport heritage and Britomart Station.
